On a way to office on Dr. Ambedkar road Dadar There is a patch where construction is going on by J Kumar Constructions for upcoming flyover. For last several days I had been noticing that the patch near to construction site is very slippery. You can see oil marks all over the road.
Today was the very bad day for the driving on this road as it was so slippery. Almost all two wheelers are skidding through surface. I saw some of bikers ahead of me skidding and falling done on the road. I try to slow down but its too late I already run over the slippery patch. I just put small amount of pressure on break and try to control my bike but it was not good enough. My bike just starts skidding I feel like time was moving very slow, in filmy, style feel like everything is moving in very slow motion. The feeling of skidding was so weird that it still gives butterfly in my stomach.
Thank god. Fortunately I am wearing the helmet. In the motion I just fallback on my back and bang my head on the concrete road, bike just keep skidding away. The BEST bus driver behind us was terrific pileup and pushes the breaks but it was to too slippery for bus also. Finally bus driver manage to stop the bus just few inches from us. Thanking the bus driver, my self and others try to get of the road after some time few more bikers skids and follow down on the road. One middle age lady skids with her scooty ahead of big sumo car. Thankfully nobody seriously hurt but damages the vehicles.
I try calling Mumbai police helpline number 1090 but its not working finally I called Mumbai police control (100) number. And I update about the incident. There other people also calling police & fire bridged and asking for their assistance. Within a few Mumbai police petrol van come to incident with fire bridged. Traffic constable, local residents near by, commuters & myself with other bikers who already suffer form this accident started diverting bikers to other safe route and asking other vehicles to slow down.
When I saw now police take charge of the situation and it is under control. I started by bike come to office.
But in this whole episode the root cause is not highlighted. The main mystery question is not solved how concrete road become so slippery near construction site. I remember same kind of accident as happened few days back when state transport bust was collide with safety barricaded protecting pillars. That bus also skied from the slippery road. The police, construction workers & other who does not learn from past experience
